The tropical travel season is quickly approaching, so don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to migrate south this winter! Costa Rica is the place to be with something for everyone. And lucky for you, Costa Rica features two international airports:  San Jose has the airport code SJO and is not to be confused with San Jose, California or San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. The second international airport is Liberia with the airport code (LIR).  spa-bambu-coconut-treatment-florblanca-santa-teresa-1There are many direct flights from all major US, European and Latin American cities. United has multiple nonstop flights daily from Newark airport (EWR), also JetBlue offers a daily early morning flight from New York-JFK.  It’s easy to fly from the East Coast into Costa Rica just about any time of day. We often take the late flight on United that departs New York at 6pm and arrives at 10pm and take an airport hotel. Or the red eye that leaves at 11:30pm and arrives at 4:30 am offers a great jump start on the trip! img_2342Departing from the western US, there are many morning flights, however with the time change and limited hopper connections once you land I strongly recommend the red eye flights from the west coast. Yes, you might arrive a little groggy. But hey, you’re on vacation so let yourself be groggy! Check out Alaska Airlines, Delta and Southwest if you’re flying from the west side of the US. paraiso-adventures-costa-rica-beach-surf-travelLiberia and San Jose are equidistant from Santa Teresa. Liberia is on the Nicoya Peninsula so if you plan to visit Costa Rican destinations such as Tamarindo, Nosara or Samara, Liberia is definitely for you. If Santa Teresa or Montezuma is your destination, both airports work well but I prefer San Jose because there are so many more options for transfer including the ferry ride which I love. If you plan to visit Arenal, Manuel Antonio, Pavones or the Caribbean side – fly into San Jose.central-america-costa-rica-jewels-9-volcanoIn summary, there are many ways to get to Costa Rica, so don’t worry, you just need to pick your date, book your trip and pack your bags. We still have a few weeks available at Casa Surf in Santa Teresa, which is open for small groups, couples, and small retreats at a fabulous rate. Our custom packages to Flor Blanca in Santa Teresa are ideal for those seeking an exclusive luxury getaway. And for our more adventure seeking travelers, do not miss Arenal. White water rafting, repelling off a waterfall, zip lining, and exploring the volcano for a couple days does a mind, body, soul great! Contact me today to begin planning!
