Back in early May, six women with adventurous spirits set out to experience an unforgettable wellness getaway in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. Isabel Allen and her daughter Maria D’Ambrosio led the yoga classes twice a day. Isabel introduced Sivananda Hatha to the group, an inward practice similar to meditation, leading everyone through a daily mindful practice. Isabel also led workshops in Positive Psychology with one of her friends! Maria instructed Vinyasa and some extra nurturing Yin yoga classes. Together, this mother-daughter duo took their group of guests through a week long journey of yoga and fun on the rugged Pacific coast of the Nicoya peninsula.
For one day of excursions, the group set out on stand up paddle boards to explore the calmer waters of Mal Pais. With the instruction of a local guide, everyone paddled into the sunset, reveling in the tropical waters. Stand up paddle board is an amazing core work out, but also a very relaxing way to connect with nature and explore the ocean.
While some stayed back at the villa to relax poolside, others ventured out on horseback to take in the lush Costa Rica countryside and stunning white sand beaches. As with all of our retreats, everything is optional, but we would like to applaud this group for really taking advantage of everything this gorgeous country has to offer. These are some truly adventuresome souls, real Paraiso material!
Back at the Surf Villa, chef Lohanna taught everyone how to make her famous empanadas, a true Tico fiesta favorite!
It isn’t a trip to Costa Rica without going on a zip-line tour! Nothing beats soaring above the jungle canopy, descending over the fabulous waterfalls of Montezuma!
We had a lot of inversion breakthroughs on this retreat, which is always very exciting! These women turned their perspective upside, showing substantial strength and agility!
We want to thank everyone who was able to attend Isabel and Maria’s Pura Vida Santa Teresa trip. May the tropical shores of Costa Rica be forever in your heart. We look forward to seeing you again soon! For those that could not join, we highly recommend checking out the next adventure with this crew!
